Man wears Santa beard in McDonald's robbery

Lakeland, FL -- Lakeland Police are trying to identify the man who robbed a McDonald's on Nov. 8.

According to police, the man, approximately 5'8" with a medium build, robbed the McDonald's at 1715 S. Rd. 98 in Lakeland, while wearing a Santa Claus beard to conceal his face.

Anyone with any information about the identity of this man is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.

Employee calls in fake bomb threat to sister store

Winter Haven, FL -- A Family Dollar Store employee was arrested Tuesday for calling in a fake bomb threat to another store in a nearby city.

According to police, 23-year-old Shanbrea Nysha Swift, of Haines City, called the Family Dollar Store in Winter Haven around 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 14 and said multiple times there was a bomb in the building before hanging up.

The store employee dialed *69 and recognized the number as the one from the Family Dollar Store in Haines City.

Woman beats school bus driver, drops pants at officers

Winter Haven, FL -- A Winter Haven woman was arrested Thursday morning after she boarded a school bus full of students, caused a scene and hit the driver.

According to police, around 6:05 a.m., 37-year-old Marsia Emanuel flagged down the bus on Renton Manor for an unknown reason. The driver, recognizing her as a parent of a student who rides the bus, stopped and opened the door to talk to her.

Man steals appliances, parade float

Lake Wales, FL -- Detectives arrested a man for stealing a number of appliances from two places in Polk County, including a parade float.

According to the sheriff's office, detectives discovered that 25-year-old Anthony Scottie Wyatt brought the float to a recycling center to be scrapped after he stole it from a Lake Wales home.

Back on Oct. 31, the homeowner, at 1224 SR 60 West in Lake Wales, called police saying someone stole his air conditioner, hot water heater, refrigerator and fan.

Bartow cops charge 14-year-old with hurling golf balls

Bartow, FL -- Bartow Police have arrested a 14-year-old for throwing a deadly missile. In this case the "missile" was golf balls.

Yesterday, at around 8 p.m., police found Marqus Cooper, of Bartow, about a block from the area of Hwy 17 and Church Street where motorists say he was throwing objects at them as they drove by.  Cooper matched the description given to police by one of the drivers.

While speaking with the teen, police say Cooper did have golf balls on him and he admitted to throwing them at passing cars.

Deputies: Woman calls 911 looking for a ride

Land O'Lakes, Florida - A woman was arrested after police say she called 911 looking for a ride.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says 29-year-old Velanica Ellis called 911 early last Thursday, because she wanted to get to her mother's home in Lakeland. 

When deputies arrived at her home on Gulfwind Drive, Ellis allegedly told a deputy she had been drinking a lot of "Natty Ice" beer throughout the night.

According to the arrest report, when a deputy asked Ellis if she knew what 911 was for, she said, "Yes" and then silently mouthed the word, "Emergencies."

Ellis was arrested on a charge of misusing the 911 system and then later released after making $150 bond.

Pants-on-the-ground beer thief finally caught

Lake Wales, Florida - Polk County Sheriff's deputies have arrested the suspect known as the "clumsy beer thief."

Investigators say back in April at the E-Z Food Store in Lake Wales, a man tried to steal two 18 packs of Bud Light Beer from the store and as he was getting away, he fell, dropped the beer and lost his pants.

The whole incident was caught on store surveillance video.

Then on August 16, a patrol deputy spotted a black Chevrolet Malibu in the Lake Wales area, and recognized that it was the same make and model vehicle as the suspect getaway vehicle in the beer robbery.
