Emergency road closure in Lakeland

Lakeland, Florida-- County Road 35A/Kathleen Road is closed to through-traffic between Deeson Road and Spivey Road due to a water main break.

The county says the road will reopen as soon as repairs are completed and roadway is safe for traffic.

As of 5 this evening, traffic was being detoured at Deeson Road and Spivey Road.

Motorists are advised to use caution, follow signs redirecting traffic, and add time to trips through area.

Road closed: Colbert Road at U.S. Hwy 98

Road closed: Colbert Road at U.S. Hwy 98

Bartow, Florida-- The county Transportation Division announced a temporary road closure for Colbert Road at U.S. Hwy. 98 South in Highland City.

They say the road closed on Thursday, July 26, and will remain closed for 31 days as crews realign the  roadway and the intersection.

Traffic will be detoured to County Road 540, also known as Clubhouse Road.

Motorists are advised to follow detour signs and add time to their trips.

Sink hole, Portion of County Road 582 closed

Lakeland, Florida-- Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies have closed a portion of County Road 582 (Old Polk City Road) in Lakeland as a result of a reported sink hole.

The closure includes the area from Tomkow Road to Highway 33.  All traffic in the area is being diverted.  Polk County Road Maintenance crews are responding.

Department of Transportation: Watch for nightly, single lane closures

Polk County, Florida-- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises Polk County residents to watch for nightly, single lane closures along Polk Parkway, today through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

They say a milling and resurfacing project will occur eastbound, starting at milepost 8 at the Western Barrier plaza, continuing to the Central Barrier. 

When complete, the construction crew will mill and resurface westbound through the same mile markers.

Winter Haven, FL— According to a recent release, a permanent traffic change will begin on Friday.

The release includes information regarding the road directly affected, and those surrounding:

"Effective Friday, June 29, 2012, all northbound traffic on Third Street NW will be required to veer  right at the Winter Haven Senior Adult Center and then stop at South Lake Silver Drive.  Motorists will then turn left or right onto South Lake Silver Drive to continue travel.

Lakeland, Florida--The Citrus Connection is promoting Multimodal Month with a number of events that introduce art in the daily commute. Citrus Connection riders can vote on their favorite artistic bus wrap. 

Fine art disciplines that include painting, poetry, music and dance will be featured June 18 – 22 on various bus lines during peak travel times, starting  in the mornings at 8-10 a.m., and then in the afternoons from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
