Bartow, Florida -- Hundreds of people showed-up to walk for a cure in downtown Bartow  last weekend, as part of fund-raising efforts to find a cure for breast cancer- and the effort continues this week.

The "Party in Pink Zumbathon" takes place at the Carver Recreation Center on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Organizers say "It's time to get moving and help find cures for breast cancer. Do it for yourself, for the people you love, for the millions who need your support."

It will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon and is open to the public.

Bartow, FL-- Polk County Parks & Recreation is hosting the Second Annual Outdoors Expo on Saturday, November 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Saddle Creek Park & Campground in Lakeland.

The expo features local outdoor recreation opportunities such as archery, ATV and fishing demonstrations, youth archery tournament, adult corn hole tournament, and much more.

Bartow, FL -- Golfers and would-b duffers from around the region are invited to take part in the Achievement Academy's 13th Annual "Chip-In" For Children Golf Tournament.

It takes place this Friday, October 12 at Lone Palm Golf Club, which is located at 800 Lone Palm Drive in Lakeland.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.

Bartow, Florida-- 24 youth baseball teams from 11 different states in the southeastern United States will compete in the Dixie youth Baseball World Series in Bartow this weekend!

Bartow Dixie Baseball, Inc. along with the City of Bartow, Bartow Chamber of Commerce, and Polk Sports Marketing are proud to host the event. 

The event takes place tomorrow and Saturday at George Pittas Baseball Complex at the Bartow Civic Center

Bartow, Florida -- Some of the region's best young baseball players will be gathering in Bartow this week!

Bartow Dixie Baseball, Inc. along with the City of Bartow, Bartow Chamber of Commerce, and Polk Sports Marketing are hosting the 2012 Dixie Youth Baseball World Series in Bartow.

The event will involve 24 youth baseball teams from 11 different states in the southeastern United States.

It all takes places from August 3 - 9 at the George Pittas Baseball Complex at the Bartow Civic Center.

Winter Haven, Florida--  Polk State College Volleyball will host an Elite Volleyball Camp for girls in grades 8-12 from July 26-28 at the Winter Haven Health Center.

Organizers say athletes will receive instruction, competition and an opportunity to view what Polk State has to offer to prospective students.

Polk County Public Schools Students Build Robots at Talon Robotics

Polk County, Florida-- This week nearly 200 Polk County Public Schools students are participating in Talon Robotics at Polk State College Winter Haven and Lakeland campuses.

The event is comprised of multifaceted science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs that provide advanced and challenging opportunities for students to improve their skill sets in the field of technology.

Fieldtrips included in the program also allow students to connect what they’re learning in the classroom with real world examples.
