Ice Skating returns to the Lakeland Center

Lakeland, Florida -- Public Ice Skating returns for the holiday season to the Lakeland Center.

Tickets are $9 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under, and $7 with your own skates.

Tickets cane be purchased at The Lakeland Center Box Office, by calling 863-834-8111, online at thelakelandcenter.com or by calling the 24-hour ticketing line 888-397-0100.

A fair showing various antique and collector's items is taking place this Saturday in Bartow between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

The Fair, along Main Street in Bartow, boasts an eclectic assortment of fine antiques, early collectibles, and sentimental treasures.

2nd Annual Judd Jog to benefit United Way

Polk County, Florida-- Have you ever run from the law? What about with the law? If so, you are invited to come out, run or jog with the Polk County Sherriff’s Office in the 2nd Annual Judd Jog Benefiting the United Way.

Registration will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2013. The race begins at 9:00 am at the complex entrance of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Southwest District Command-Polk State College-Fort Fraser Trail located at 4120 US Highway 98 South, Lakeland, 33812.

New boat ramp installation completed at Lake Sears

Winter Haven, Florida-- Winter Haven locals can look froward to using a new boat ramp at Lake Sears, as Parks & Natural Resources reps say they completed installing it last week.

The new ramp should minimize previous, reoccurring maintenance issues.

The new ramp at Lake Sears is located at 100 Lake Sears Drive in Winter Haven.

Bartow, Florida -- Polk County Parks & Natural Resources is replacing the boat ramp at Lake Sears.

The ramp will be closed Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14, weather permitting. The new boat ramp will correct reoccurring maintenance issues and be more functional in low water conditions.

Lake Sears boat ramp is located at 100 Lake Sears Drive in Winter Haven.

Cancer fighter to get special honor from Tampa Bay Rays

Winter Haven, Florida -- The Tampa Bay Rays are recognizing a Polk County cancer survivor and fighter as the team's honorary bat girl at this Sunday's game.

She raised money and pushed to find a cure for breast cancer -- long before she learned she'd have to fight the disease herself.

Now Winter Haven's Cauney Bamberg will be celebrated for her work by getting time in the spotlight with the Tampa Bay Rays. Bamberg has been chosen as the team's honorary bat girl.

Kentucky Derby Day brings “My Old Kentucky Home” to Lakeland

Lakeland, Florida -- Annual fundraiser supports the programs of Catholic Charities in Polk County Kentucky Derby fans who are unable to attend the horse race at Churchill Downs, can have a local Derby Day experience while supporting a great cause.
