Lakeland dogs ready for adoption

Polk County, FL -- The Miranda Trail dogs that were found at a Lakeland home are ready for adoption!

On March 2, a PCSO Deputy responded to a Lakeland home, after receiving a request form Marion County Sheriff’s Office regarding a February 2011 case in which multiple animals were seized from a motor home in Dunnellion.

The motor home’s registration came back to 825 Miranda Trail, Lakeland.

Deputies discovered an elderly couple who were overwhelmed by 184 dogs and two cats residing inside and outside of the residence.

The couple was charged with 40 counts of Animal Cruelty and 102 of the animals were surrendered at that time. Since then, the couple has surrendered the remaining 82 dogs.

Miranda Trail dogs, along with other available pets, will available for adoption on Saturday, April 9 at the PCSO Animal Control Section, 7115 De Castro Road in Winter Haven.

Doors will open to the public at 10 a.m., and close at 4 p.m.

Cats, kittens, and puppies five months and younger can be adopted for $40.00. All dogs six months and older will be $70.00.

Animals will be spayed or neutered, vet checked, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and have a Polk County Rabies license tag valid for one year.

Don’t miss this opportunity to help animals in need find loving and safe homes. To pre-qualify for adoption, please go to our website to download a prequalification questionnaire.
