Tampa, Florida-- The U.S. Postal Service sent out a release this afternoon urging customers to, "Drive carefully at post offices" after tallying up a total of eight customers who have driven through Suncoast District Post Offices this year.

6-month bridge rebuild begins Monday, road to close

Winter Haven, Florida—Motorists used to traveling 17th Street NW between Lake Howard and Havendale Boulevard will have to find an alternate route beginning Monday, September 24.

Crews will begin working to replace the 17th Street NW bridge, which spans the canal between lakes Cannon and Mirror.

The project will require closure of 17th Street NW in the area of the bridge. An alternate route will be required during the six-month project.

Lakeland Electric Fuel Charge increase to go into effect October 1

Lakeland, Florida-- The Lakeland City Commission voted to increase the fuel charge for Lakeland Electric customers 50 cents per 1,000 kWh effective for meters read on or after October 1, 2012. The new fuel charge will be $42.80 per 1,000 kWh.

Lakeland, Florida -  Mayor Gow Fields invites local residents to attend the next Mornings with the Mayor event at 7 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Fred's Southern Kitchen (2120 Harden Boulevard Lakeland, FL).

Mayor Fields will make his remarks and take questions from the audience around 7:30 a.m. after they have had a chance to go through the breakfast buffet.

Polk County Property Appraiser, Marsha Faux will also be in attendance to address the audience regarding property values and the assessment process.

Downtown Lakeland Partnership: "State of Downtown" Annual Luncheon

Lakeland, Florida-- The Downtown Lakeland Partnership wants you to be a part of their Annual Luncheon and Silent Auction scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 3. 

Organizers say their 2012 "State of Downtown" luncheon "promises to an entertaining event," with jack White and Chris Challis of White Challis Redevelopment Co. as the featured keynote speakers. 

The event will take place at the Lakeland Center. Doors open at 11 a.m., with the buffet line beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the program beginning at noon. Things should wrap up around 1:30 p.m.
