Man sought in Lakeland CVS robbery

Lakeland, Florida -- Polk Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help identifying the man who robbed a CVS Pharmacy store Tuesday.

Police say the man entered the store in the 2500 block of Hwy 92 E, got a soda from the coolers, walked to the counter and handed the clerk a $10 bill. When the employee opened the cash register, the man reached over tried to grab the drawer. The employee grabbed his hand to stop him but he managed to steal around $26 along with his original $10.

Winter Haven, Florida-- Winter Haven Police Department will unveil their new drinking and driving campaign, "Choose Your Ride," this Friday, June 8 at 10 a.m. 

According to Winter Haven PD, "Choose Your Ride" gives an up-close look into the costs associated with making the wrong choice after consuming alcohol.

The campaign includes a 2004 Crown Victoria patrol car, half of which is black and white with the Winter Haven Police markings on the side, and the other half  is Taxi Yellow with the typical markings of a Taxi.

Bartow, Florida -- If you live in the Bartow, by now you should know what the word quasquicentennial means.

The number associated with the word has been hanging from just about every street lamp in downtown Bartow for months now.

Quasquicentennial is defined as relating to the 125th birthday or anniversary. And this week, you are invited to the 125th Birthday Celebration of the Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce.

The event will take place Friday, June 8, 4: p.m. - 7 p.m. on the Chamber Grounds featuring a "Taste of Bartow Restaurants".

PCSO: Woman works for dad's dental office, forged 519 Hydrocodone prescriptions

Bartow, Florida-- Polk County Sheriff's detectives arrested 46-year-old Stacey Sumner from Lakeland, and her friend, 62-year-old Lois McDermott on Wednesday, May 30,  after the two were involved in trafficking Hydrocodone.

The women have been charged as follows:

Sumner:

  • One count Trafficking in Hydrocodone
  • Two counts Forgery
  • Two counts Obtaining a Prescription By Fraud

McDermott:
