Bartow, Florida-- The Polk County Chapter of the Tiger Bay Club will hold its July meeting on Monday the 23 at the Peace River County Club, 150 S. Idlewood Ave in Bartow, Florida.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. 

According to a recent release, the guest speaker will be Florida Commissioner of Education, Gerard Robinson.

Facilitated by Magnify Credit Union, the meeting is open to the public. 

Lunch will be served at a cost of $15 for members and  $25 for non-members.

Men steal purses while women take Zumba class

Polk County, Florida-- Polk County Sheriff's deputies seek the public's assistance in identifying suspects responsible for vehicle burglaries that took place while women attended Zumba class.

According to PCSO, this past May, two black male suspects broke into several women's vehicles that were parked at the Dundee Community Center and stole their purses. 

The men were driving a black Dodge Charger or Chrysler 300, say officials.

Winter Haven, Florida-- Police currently ask for the public's help in identifying a man who they say stole more than $3,000 worth of computer software from a Winter Haven Wal Mart.

According to WHPD, a black male entered the Wal Mart located at 7450 Cypress Gardens Blvd. on June 6 around 1:20 a.m. and walked  back to the electronics area of the store.

They say he then concealed the software packages inside of his backpack.  

Management approached him and a struggle ensued, after which he fled the store in a black two-door Honda.

Lakeland, Florida- Florida Citrus Mutual’s Board of Directors announced its elected officers Friday for the 2012-2013 season.

Mark Wheeler, Chief Financial Officer of Wheeler Farms Inc. in Lake Placid, will serve as Mutual’s president during the year.  Wheeler succeeds Victor Story Jr., who will remain on Mutual’s Executive Committee.

Postal service employee steals gift cards from mail

Winter Haven, Florida -- A Postal Service employee was sentenced Friday to 1 year and 1 day in federal prison for stealing gift cards from the mail.

Court documents revealed from December 2010 to July 11, 2011, Kimberly Hunter worked in Winter Haven as a distribution clerk at the Florence Villa Station.

During that time, Hunter stole approximately 122 known pieces of mail and took gift cards from inside the pieces of mail totaling $5, 147. 

When she was arrested, Hunter had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for about 15 years.

Bartow, Florid-- The Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce hosts a Lunch and Learn Meeting that the Polk County Historical Museum on the third Tuesday of every month. 

On Tuesday the 19th, members are encouraged to bring lunches to the 1926 courtroom and listen to guest speaker.

The event takes place from 12:15  - 1 p.m. 

The museum is located at 100 East Main Street Bartow, FL.

Winter Haven PD: Front-end loader stolen, possible cash reward for info

Winter Haven, Florida-- Winter Haven Police are investigating the theft of a front-end loader that was taken from a lot sometime between May 30, 2012 and June 6, 2012.

Police say that on May 30, the owner of the Kawasaki Z60 front-end/wheel loader parked the machinery in a lot at the intersection of Haynes Drive and Haynes Blvd., NW (inside of the Lakes at Lucerne subdivision) in Winter Haven.
