Bullying victim's mother to sue girls' parents

Orlando, Florida -- Tricia Norman, the mother of bullying victim Rebecca Sedwick, says she's going on a crusade. A crusade that involves litigation and legislation to, as she puts it, "make society a safer place to live."

Norman's 12-year-old daughter Rebecca Sedwick took her own life earlier this year after officials say she was bullied by two other girls.

Gas price hike just in time for Thanksgiving travel

Tampa, Florida -- About two million people in Florida are expected to travel for Thanksgiving, but before they fill up their stomachs, they'll be filling up their tanks and they'll be paying more to do that.

Gas prices in the state are rising. Since last week, the average price for a gallon of regular has jumped 18 cents.

We caught up with Veena Chezhian filling up on Monday, and she does have some regrets.

"I forgot to fill with gas last week," she says with a laugh.

With the spike in prices, your Thanksgiving trip to visit grandma will cost a bit more.

Bailiff named in Polk Courthouse sex scandal quits

Bartow, FL -- The Polk County Court bailiff who was at the center of a sex scandal allegation involving a judge has decided to retire, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

James Maxcy III is 37, and claims health reasons are behind his decision, although he did not elaborate as to what that health condition is.

Maxcy said his retirement was effective this past Friday.

"Due to my medical condition I am retiring from the Polk County Sheriff's Office on November 22," he wrote in a letter to Polk Sheriff Grady Judd.

Tricia Norman will speak out about charges being dropped

Lakeland, Florida -- The mother of a girl who committed suicide after being bullied will speak out after charges were dropped against one of the girls who is accused of bullying her daughter. 

11-year-old victim speaks out after being shot in his home

Lake Wales, Florida -- A young boy got a big scare after he was shot at a home in Lake Wales. 

11-year-old Lavoris Jones was standing in the kitchen when he says bullets started flying. He was hit in the arm and is recovering but he knows it could have been a lot worse.

He says early Sunday morning somebody fired six shots into the house. Lavoris's cousin was asleep and woke up when he heard the gunshots.

"I woke up and started crying because I'd seen blood on the floor."

11-year-old boy hit during drive-by shooting in Lake Wales

Lake Wales, Florida -- Police are investigating a drive by shooting that resulted in an 11-year-old boy being shot.

At 2:20 a.m. on November 24, officers responded to a home on West Seminole Avenue in regards to a person being shot through their apartment window.

Reportedly, an 11-year-old boy was struck in the arm by a bullet while he was in the kitchen with his older cousin. Several bullets were fired by an unknown person. 

The 11-year-old boy is in stable condition. 

All lanes back open on I-4 after crash

UPDATE: The accident scene has been cleared and all lanes are back open.
