Mom of teen facing charges in bullying suicide is arrested

Lakeland, Florida -- The mother of one of the girls facing charges in connection to the bullying suicide of Rebecca Sedwick has been arrested herself.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says 30-year-old Vivian Vosburg is charged with two counts of child abuse with bodily harm and four counts of child neglect.

Sheriff Grady Judd showed cell phone video in a press conference Friday afternoon depicting Vosburg viciously punching two children involved in a fight inside of a residence. The video was originally uploaded on Facebook.

Sheriff Judd says Vosburg admitted to being the woman in the video who is seen punching one child in the face with her fist and punched another several times in the back of the head.

"After we showed her the video of about she at least hit this one kid at least 10 times in the back and in the head with her fits she admitted well I did go too far that day," he said.

Investigators say Vosburg's arrest is not connected to the October 14 arrest of her 14-year-old daughter.

Vosburg's daughter, along with another 12-year-old girl, face charges of felony aggravated stalking. Deputies say the two girls bullied Rebecca Sedwick to the point that Rebecca killed herself by jumping off a building last month.

Vosburg said on national television in the days following her arrest by claiming that her Facebook page was hacked and that she monitors the page regularly.

"Vivian does not monitor the Facebook. Vivian hasn't monitored the Facebook," said Sheriff Judd.

He cites the fact that the video was posted on her daughter's sister's Facebook page since at least July - apparently unnoticed by Vosburg.
