Hundreds line up to adopt dogs seized from Lakeland home

Winter Haven, FL -- Hours before the doors even opened, about 75 people were waiting in line this morning to adopt some of the animals seized from a Lakeland home last month.

The Polk County Animal Shelter hosted an adoption event to find homes for about 85 to 90 dogs and about 25 cats. In all, about 400 people showed up to check them out.

The Taylors saw our story about the dogs and decided to make the drive from St. Petersburg to adopt a yorkie. They'd been waiting since 2 a.m. to take home their pooch.

No word yet if any of the other dogs taken from the Miranda Trail home will be put up for adoption any time soon. The elderly couple that owned the animals faces dozens of neglect charges.
