Runaway found in Clearwater

Winter Haven, FL -- The teen who ran away from home after agruing with his mother was found last night.

Winter Haven police received a call around 6 p.m. Wednesday from Clearwater police that they had located 15-year-old Tyler Smith at his sister's home in Clearwater.

According to Winter Haven PIO Jamie Brown, it was through quick interviews with his parents and two other siblings that police determined Tyler could have headed over to that area since he had other family members over there.Police checked his sister's residence where he was later found yesterday morning around 10 o'clock, but he was not there at that time.

Smith was taken to the local Juvenile Assessment Center and was later picked up by his parents.

As of now, police say Smith ran away because of an argument he had with his mom but the exact cause of the argument is unknown at this time.

The case is still under investigation since Smith was taken from his house with his parents' permission and taken to the Clearwater area. Smith does not have a driver's license or his own vehicle to have gotten to Clearwater on his own. Detectives are still talking with relatives and Smith to find out exactly how he got there.
