Polk deputies solve "Frosty the Snowman" caper
News

Lakeland, Florida - Crime took no holiday in Lakeland last weekend.

Grinches cut Christmas string lights, knocked over decorations and even stole Frosty the Snowman in a vandalism spree in South Lakeland, the sheriff's office said.

Crime Suppression Team deputies used surveillance and unmarked cars to patrol the neighborhoods for possible suspects and at 1 a.m. Tuesday zeroed in on three teens near a retention pond that fit the description of the vandals.

Deputies say the three - a 14 year old and two 15 year olds - confessed to the damage. They were charged with criminal mischief, curfew violation, loitering and prowling.

Their names were not released because they are juveniles and the charges against them are misdemeanors.
