Pedophile book author faces charges in Polk County

Winter Haven, Florida -- A Colorado man who self-published a book called "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-Lover's Code of Conduct" now faces obscenity charges in Polk County.

On Monday morning, Polk Sheriff Grady Judd announced Phillip R. Greaves II was arrested in Pueblo, Colorado on charges out of Polk County. Greaves, 47, is charged with distribution of obscene material depicting minors engaged in conduct harmful to minors, a third degree felony.

Judd says the book contains two graphic stories depicting an adult engaged in sex acts with children, and also trains adults regarding illegal sex acts between adults and children.

Polk detectives say they got Greaves to sell the book to them for $50; he mailed it to a Lakeland address and told officers it was his last copy.

Detectives and attorneys reviewed the book and presented the material to Polk County Judge J. Michael McCarthy. The judge then issued a warrant for Greaves' arrest, indicating a bond of $15,000 pending first appearance in the Florida 10th Judicial Circuit jurisdiction.

"If we can get jurisdiction ... we're coming after you," says Judd. "There's nothing in the world more important than our children."

Detectives traveled to Colorado, worked with the Pueblo Police Department, and were present when Greaves was taken into custody.  He was booked into the Pueblo County Jail, and waived his right to fight extradition to Florida.

Sheriff Judd says Greaves could be in Florida as early as Monday night.

Judd says his goal for Greaves is to have him "eat processed turkey on Christmas Day in the Polk County Jail."

In November, Greaves garnered national attention because his self-published book for sale on Amazon offered advice to pedophiles on how to make a sexual encounter with a child as safe as possible. The website later removed the book.
