UPDATE: Silver alert canceled, elderly couple found | News
Poinciana, Florida-- UPDATE: Polk County deputies announced the cancellation of a Silver Alert issued Tuesday for an elderly couple.
According to reports, the couple, David and Karen Keener, were found in Daytona Beach very early Wednesday morning.
During a drive on Tuesday, the couple made contact with their son saying they were lost near Orlando. They both suffer from early stages of Dementia, and other health issues.
Daytona Beach, their final destination, is nearly two hours away from their home in Poinciana.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office issued a Silver Alert Tuesday afternoon for a missing and endangered elderly couple from Poinciana.
According to reports, the husband and wife, 74-year-old David Keener and 64-year-old Sharon Keener, left their home early Tuesday morning, and were not there when their son returned home from working the night shift.
The son reached out to them over the phone around 8 a.m., and and they reportedly told him they were lost on US 441. About two-and-a-half hours later, around 10:30, the son was able to make contact with the couple once again.
They said they were stopping at a store in Orlando to ask for directions, but he has yet to hear from them since.
The couple's last possible known location was near All America Blvd in Orlando.
Reports say both David and Sharon have health issues. They both suffer from the early stages of dementia; David is a diabetic and Sharon has a seizure disorder. Additionally, neither of them have had their medication today.
Officials say they should be in their blue Hyundai Santa Fe with FL tag WJB5J.
