Money Mondays! Step-by-step instructions

The state of Florida has roughly $ 1 billion of unclaimed cash and property just sitting in an account, and some of it could be yours from old bank accounts, deposits, or maybe even a long lost relative.

The video above shows you step-by-step instructions of how to easily search the state's database to see if you're owed money.

You just go to the website, which can also be found on our 10 News Facebook page.

Once you're there, you'll see three boxes. Click on Search unclaimed property box, and input your name, or the name of your business.

Click here for links to the state and national databases

*(WARNING:This site is NOT a government website, so to avoid paying a fee, you may want to contact that state's department of financial services to collect the money for free)*

You may have to type in a security code, which may be pictured right next to an empty field on the site. If not, just click "search"!

The longest part? Searching through the results to see if any match your information.

When you find one that does, just click the account number listed next to your name, and claim it.
