Three thrown from vehicle in deadly Polk crash | News
Lakeland, Florida -- Investigators say no one was wearing a seat belt when their car drove off the road and crashed into a guard rail early Monday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the vehicle, driven by 25-year-old Dario Flores, was traveling westbound on State Road 546 shortly before 1 a.m. when Flores failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the road.
Flores' car hit a guard rail and continued driving down an embankment before finally coming to a rest. Flores and his two passengers, 25-year-old Miguel Gonzalez and 26-year-old Jose Francisco Vidales, were all thrown from the vehicle.
Gonzalez died at the scene. Flores and Vidales were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, both with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
