Crowdfunding website helps pediatric patients | News
St. Petersburg, Florida -- Two-month-old Jude weighed just under two pounds when he was born months before his due date at All Children's Hospital. His mom, Traci Andrews, calls him a miracle.
"We didn't have supplies at home, we didn't have anything," she says. "We had just found out he was a boy. So coming here, it was just nice to know he had everything he needed to take care of him."
That's the relief that the crowdfunding site GiveMiracles.org strives to bring to families. Any donation made within the 14 counties that All Children's serves goes directly to the hospital.
"Giving back is a natural thing this time of year, so I think it's going to give people in our community an additional way to give back," says Stephanie Hall, Director of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at All Children's Hospital.
What crowdfunders give back can be small, but the impact is huge.
"I know that it takes so much just to help [Jude], and it takes a village - that's what we say about raising kids anyway, so we know that allowing other people to play a part in that is a blessing to him and it's going to be a blessing to them, too," says Andrews.
