UPDATE: Elderly couple from Auburndale goes missing | News
Auburndale, Florida -- Update: The couple has been located in Taylor County. The Taylor County Sheriff's Office stopped the couple as a result of the Silver Alert. They were found to be coherent and fine.
The couple was released and were driving back home. They did not give a reason as to why they were so far away from home. Family members were contacted and said they were fine with the couple driving home.
The search continues for an elderly couple who was last seen in Hernando County by a trooper early Thursday morning.
Authorities say 77-year-old Walter Schwarznau and his wife, 76-year-old Erna Schwarznau, were last seen by their daughter on the morning of Dec. 5 around 9 o'clock. The Auburndale couple was stopped by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper around 6 a.m. this morning and were told to go home, but have yet to return.
Auburndale Police says cell phone data showed the couple was in Old Town in Levy County at 11:56 this morning. They are driving in a bronze, 2009 four-door BMW 328i with Florida tag 035-HEK.
Walter reportedly has dementia and is described as a white male, 5'9", 180 pounds with a mustache, gray hair and blue eyes. Erna is known to become disoriented at night and is described as a white female, 5'3", 110 pounds, with gray hair. Both have a German accent.
