Victim dies, home invasion suspect faces murder charge | News
Bartow, FL -- Walter Morrison was already wanted for attempted Murder related to a home-invasion robbery.
But the Polk County sheriff's office now says the victim in that case, a 70-year-old man who suffered serious injuries - died Monday.
As a result, Morrison's charges now include First Degree Murder.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding Morrison.
According to deputies, two black men knocked on the door of a mobile home off of Highway 60 in Mulberry at approximately 12:20 a.m. Saturday.
A resident who answered the door was knocked unconscious.
The suspects then allegedly entered the home and attacked two other residents.
The sheriff's office said the suspects took property and money before fleeing the home.
Homicide detectives identified one of the men as Morrison, 31, and they say he's from Lakeland.
Morrison also faces charges of armed robbery, home invasion, and armed burglary.
