Patriots push past Shorecrest 26-7
HS Sports

It was homecoming night at Shorecrest Prep this Friday but bigger then homecoming was that it was also Coach Phil Hayford's final home game after 33 years on the sidelines.

From the get go in this one the Chargers came out with a burst, drawing first blood on a one yard run from Dakota Hirsch to make it 7-0.

But the early lead was all the scoring that Shorecrest would do for the night.

Landmark then rattled off 26 unanswered points as they spoiled homecoming for the Chargers.  The Patriots exploded early in the third with touchdown runs of both 52 and 72 yards...but the scoring didn't stop there as they added a 64 yard completion and one more score from 15 yards out.

But when that final second finally ticked off the clock...it wasn't disappointment for the Shorecrest but rather a chance to look back and reflect on the storied career of Coach Hayford.  Fans and alumni joined Coach Hayford for one final walk around the field as the night drew to a close.
