Lakeland, Florida -- With 8,000 fans on hand, the biggest rivalry in Polk County ended differently for the first time in 20 years. Kathleen beat arch nemesis Lakeland 24-3.
The Red Devils victory, was their first since 1991 over the Dreadnaughts, handing them the District 5, Class 7A title.

Trailing 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, Kathleen put together a drive that was capped off with a Kevin Wilson touchdown pass to Marquis Zinnorman providing the Red Devils with a 7-3 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Kathleen continued riding the momentum as Wilson hit Javon Harrison for a 73-yard touchdown strike putting the Dreadnaughts in a 14-3 hole.
Kathleen would tack on 10 more points in the half en route to their first win over rival Lakeland since NFL great Ray Lewis wore a Red Devils uniform.
