Cadet Josh Daily wows the judges during the Male Solo Exhibition

Bartow, Florida -- Everybody wants to be a winner. But winning isn’t just about being the first one to cross the finish line, it’s about having a winning attitude.  Cadet Josh Daily lives by this philosophy. He believes that if you wake up in the morning and tell yourself you are going to fail, that’s what you will do. But say you will succeed and success will come your way.

During the 2012 Florida State High School Drill Competition, he proved this way of thinking works well.

He won first place in the male solo armed exhibition. Armed with a full weight M1903 Springfield rifle, judges rated him the highest among his peers for the precision and technique he displayed during his routine.

Of this win Daily is quick to point out, “The medal has little significance, the important thing is going out there and putting on your best performance. I owe all my success to my JROTC instructor First Sergeant Jackson. He has been there since my eighth grade year. And has pushed me to become the spinner I am today as an eleventh grader.”

Of his star student, 1st Sergeant Jackson says, “Cadet Daily is an exceptional leader and an inspiration to his Platoon and the Cadet Corp. I am awed by his ability to reach beyond his perceived potential and extend his skills to unimaginable heights. He is our go-to-guy for exhibition demonstrations when VIPs visit our campus. I believe in this young man and look forward to watching his continued success.”
