Polk Health Officials issue advice warning on mosquitoes

Bartow, FL -- Today the Polk County Health Department reminded residents and visitors to take simple steps to protect against mosquito-borne illnesses.

The mosquito population grows in the summer, they say, which is the time of year many residents and visitors head outdoors.

Current reports show average mosquito activity for this time of year, however, recent heavy rainfalls in our area, they say, may cause an increase in mosquito activity.

Mosquitoes are usually most active during dusk and dawn.
