Between now and the end of October, the commissioners say they're taking on the better health battle. Through routinely exercising and cutting back on fatty foods, they hope to get fit while setting a solid example for other Lakeland locals.

Bartow, Florida -- The Florida Department of Health in Polk County recognizes the week of April 20-27, 2013, as National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW). 

National Infant Immunization Week is an annual observance promoting the benefits of immunization to improve the health of children two-years-old or younger. 

This year's theme is "Immunization: Power to Protect." 

Vaccines are among the most successful and cost-effective public health tools available for preventing disease and death.
