Lakeland, FL - Join the Parks & Recreation Department as they host the 1st Annual Camper Scamper 5K and Kids Fun Run on Friday, March 15 around beautiful Lake Hollingsworth.

Check-In and on-site registration will be from 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. near the Lakeland Yacht Club parking lot followed by the kid's fun run at 6:30 p.m. and the 5K race starting at 6:45 p.m.

The entry fee for kids ages 5 -11 is only $10, and ages 12 and up can participate for only $20. A $5 fee will be added for event day registration, so get your name on the list today!

Bartow, FL -- Along with the flowers, art is in full bloom this week in Bartow.

March 2 and 3 marks this year's 42nd annual Bloomin' Arts Festival downtown.

As in years past, nearly a hundred differrent artists will showcase their skills of arts and crafts for juried prizes. There are lots of kid-freindly craft events there as well.

Polk County, Florida-- Polk County Sheriff's officials and a local family are mourning the loss of a very special retired K-9 this week. The K-9 was given the chance to serve in loving memory of a daughter whose every chance was taken from her years ago.

It's been a decade since the Digget family lost their daughter, Allison Sousa, in a tragic double-homicide. 

It was a difficult time for them, but it was because of strong support from Polk County and its law enforcement that they decided to honor her, and thank the community in a big way.

During the "Read the Most from Coast to Coast" event March 1st, students at Lake Shipp Elementary will join with students from around the world in an effort to take the the most Accelerated Reader quizzes in a single day.

Winter Haven, Florida -- LEGOLAND Florida is rolling out the pink carpet for five girls who love fabulous fun and love building with Lego bricks.

Olivia, Andrea, Stephanie, Emma and Mia -- the Lego Friends -- are hosting a series of events at the theme park in Winter Haven aimed at girls ages 2 to 12.

The Lego Friends weekend is Feb. 9 and 10.

13th annual L.B. Brown Heritage Festival this weekend

Bartow, Florida -- The L.B. Brown Heritage Festival runs from Friday through Sunday, a few hundred yards away from the Old Courthouse at the grounds of the L.B. Brown House, 470 L.B. Brown Ave. (formerly Second Avenue).

The festival honors the life of Lawrence B. Brown, who was born into slavery and became a prosperous businessman in Bartow.

The two-story, Victorian-style house Brown built in 1892 serves as the hub for the celebration.
