Bartow, Florida-- The School Nutrition Department is offering families an opportunity to fill out a 2013-2014 application for free and reduced price meal program students unable to pay the full price for meals. 

To complete the application go to www.polk-fl.net and search keyword: Nutrition. There is also an option of completing a paper application at the school where the student will be attending classes for the upcoming school year.

Winter Haven, Florida-- Food, family, and fun....That and more is what's in store at the upcoming Food Truck Wars in Winter Haven. 

The event, scheduled for September 14, will feature over 40 gourmet food trucks, celebrity judges, a Battle of the Bellys contest, a designated Kids Zone, a Beer Garden and live music.

Bartow, FL -- The Polk Health Care Plan has announced additional free Diabetic Classes for Polk County residents on July 15 and 22.

The materials, they say, can be life-saving.

According to diabetes.org, the American Diabetes Association homepage, Diabetes is the fastest-growing disease in the country and the fifth leading cause of death by disease in the U.S.
