Polk County Schools open applications for free & reduced student meals

Bartow, Florida-- The School Nutrition Department is offering families an opportunity to fill out a 2013-2014 application for free and reduced price meal program students unable to pay the full price for meals.

To complete the application go to www.polk-fl.net and search keyword: Nutrition. There is also an option of completing a paper application at the school where the student will be attending classes for the upcoming school year.

The National School Lunch and Breakfast program providing the free and reduced price meals takes household size and income into account to determine eligibility.

Please also remember that this school year Polk County Public Schools will participate in the Community Eligibility Option (CEO) pilot program. All students who attend preselected schools identified as having a high percentage of low-income students will be served free breakfasts and lunches without having to fill out a qualifying application for the free and reduced meal programs.

Click here for more information on the Community Eligibility Option program, and a complete list of schools participating.
