Lakeland, Florida - Proposed changes to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) rules may soon allow for net fishing at Polk County's Saddle Creek Park.

 The public is invited to attend a workshop on Monday, April 15, 2013 to participate in the rule-changing process.

Bartow, Florida -- It's sort of like an amnesty day for your household hazardous chemicals. Disposing of such materials properly can sometimes become expensive, but county officials don't want people resorting to dumping the items, because it can damage the environment.

So now, Polk County residents, including folks from Bartow, can safely dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic equipment for free during a collection event hosted by the county's Waste Resource Management Division.

The Relay For Life of Bartow is set to take place on Friday, April 12. This year the Relay will be held in downtown Bartow rather than at the High School.

Lately, there have been all sorts of stories about people finding rare baseball cards and valuable furniture at antique shows. And maybe, just maybe - there's a treasure waiting at this weekend's antique show in Bartow.

The plan is for lots of tables and displays to be in place this Saturday, April 13 -- right in the middle of downtown.

Organizers of the Antique Fair say it will include a display of various antique,collectors items.

It all takes place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. along Main Street in downtown Bartow.

Friends of the Bartow Library are holding their Annual Spring Brunch fundraiser.

The public is invited to meet Mr. Lloyd Harris as he introduces his new book, "Bartow (Images of America)" and shares some photos not included in the book.

The cost is just $5. Tickets must be reserved by Wednesday.

It takes place April 13, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., 2150 S. Broadway Ave in Bartow.
