Lakeland, FL - Have you ever been interested in how to increase irrigation efficiency, use rain sensors or retrofit existing irrigation systems?

If so, be sure to reserve a spot in Irrigation School scheduled on Tuesday, September 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Circle B Bar Reserve, 4399 Winter Lake Road, Lakeland.

Irrigation School is free of charge and open to the general public.

Polk County, Florida-- Have you ever run from the law?  What about with the law? If so, you are invited to come out, run or jog with the Polk County Sherriff’s Office in the 2nd Annual Judd Jog Benefiting the United Way.  

Registration will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2013. The race begins at 9:00 am at the complex entrance of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Southwest District Command-Polk State College-Fort Fraser Trail located at 4120 US Highway 98 South, Lakeland, 33812.

“Irrigation School is the perfect opportunity for homeowners, landscapers and homeowners associations to learn about the best ways to conserve water while landscaping,” said Jacqueline Hollister, environmental specialist for the Polk County Government.

The Central Florida Water Initiative regional water supply plan team will present a free, interactive webinar about the development of a regional water supply plan for the central Florida area at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 29.

The webinar will include an overview of the CFWI, highlights of the regional water supply planning process, a question and answer session and information on how to become involved in the process. The webinar is sponsored by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners.

Polk County, Florida-- The Polk County Veteran’s Council along with all Polk County Fire and Law Enforcement agencies are coordinating an event marking the twelfth anniversary of 9-11 that honors all Polk County’s first responders, and pays tribute to those who lost their lives on that fateful day.

Sheriff Grady Judd is scheduled to speak along with veterans who have served our great nation following that fateful day.
