Davenport, FL -- Come out to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Ernie Caldwell Boulevard and overpass on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 9:30 a.m. at Posner Park near Interstate 4 and US Highway 27 in northeast Polk County.

The almost 4-mile long Ernie Caldwell Boulevard connects Posner Park, FDC Grove Road and Home Run Boulevard (via new Heller Brothers Boulevard) to US Highway 27 South. It travels east to link US Highway 27 and Posner Park to County Road 54 (Ronald Reagan Parkway) by way of the recently opened 1.4-mile long Pine Tree Trail.

The Board of County Commissioners is dedicating roadway in honor of former commissioner and environmental and agricultural advocate, Ernie Caldwell.

The North Ridge Community Redevelopment Agency and Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing will also host activities, including the inaugural “North Ridge Bridge Run” 5K at 8:30 a.m. and an antique car parade following ribbon-cutting. Runners can register online at www.imathlete.com

County departments will present displays about other Northeast Polk road, transit, utility, parks, library, Sheriff’s Office, and Fire/EMS “Community Investment Program” projects from 8 a.m. – noon. Refreshments available while supplies last.

Residents are encouraged to attend.
