Net fishing at Saddle Creek Park?

Lakeland, Florida - Proposed changes to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) rules may soon allow for net fishing at Polk County's Saddle Creek Park.

The public is invited to attend a workshop on Monday, April 15, 2013 to participate in the rule-changing process.

At the workshop, FWC officials will talk about the rule change process, recommended guidelines and limitations, and allow for questions and answers. Specifically, Polk County is proposing that net cast fishing for Blue Tilapia be allowed on a limited basis at Saddle Creek Park. Blue Tilapia is difficult to catch by conventional sport fishing. Saddle Creek Park is an ideal location for this because of the large fish population and the popularity of the park with fishermen.

The workshop will be held at Saddle Creek Park, 3716 Morgan Combee Road, Lakeland from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on April 15.
