Great American Smokeout | Events
Bartow, FL – Tobacco Free Partnership of Polk County, the Polk County Health Department and the statewide Tobacco Free Florida program are working to send a significant messages to smokers during the upcoming Great American Smokeout: "There is a Quitter In You."
The Great American Smokeout is set to take place tomorrow, November 15. The event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, raises awareness about the dangers of smoking and the many effective resources available to successfully quit, organizers say.
Local businesses and even students are participating in the smoke out.
Local business will be hosting informational booths and quit smoking classes, and Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) community and school based clubs will be hosting awareness events at Bartow High School and Kathleen High School.
“Establishing a quit plan is essential to success for any tobacco user. With three free options to help a smoker quit, they can set a date and be confident they will have the support they need to turn this quit attempt into a permanent lifestyle change” said Angela Forte, Tobacco Program Manager for the Polk County Health Department.
