Household hazardous waste drop off in October

Polk County, FL– Polk County residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic equipment for FREE during a collection event this month.

The collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 13 in the Mill Avenue parking lot, west of the Neil Combee Administration Building (behind Sonny’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant).

Household hazardous materials accepted during the event include: cleaners, polishes, solvents, automotive products, aerosol cans, insecticides, disinfectants, paint products, batteries and pool chemicals. Residents can drop off up to five electronic items per household. Electronic materials accepted include computers, monitors, keyboards, terminals, televisions, stereos, printers, fax machines, VCR/DVD players, video cameras and video game consoles.

Business waste will not be accepted. Businesses may call Polk County’s Waste Resource Management Division at (863) 284-4319 to learn proper disposal procedures.

The Neil Combee Administration Building is located at 330 West Church Street in Bartow.
