Bartow, FL -- It's your money, so if you want to weigh-in on this year's Polk County budget, your first of two chances is approaching. County commissioners will meet this Thursday at 6 p.m. Another hearing will be held September 12th at 6:00 p.m as well.

Next year's proposed budget for Polk County is $1.27 billion. That's a two and a half percent reduction from this past year.

Changes include a slight reduction in the garbage assessment, a new storm water assessment for some unincorporated areas, and a slight increase in the fire assessment.

The slight overall decrease would result in a couple of dollars savings for the average homeowner.
