Bartow High’s FFA wins State Forestry Contest

Bartow, Florida -- Polk County Schools recently announced that Bartow High’s FFA team won the State Forestry Contest. 

The team, consisting of Hunter Westmoreland, Taylor Ross, Rachel Locke, Brett Wasden and Jessica Clark, reportedly placed first in the following categories: general knowledge, dendrology, pest/disorders, compass and pacing. The team also placed third in the tools category. 

In the individual competition, Brett Wasden received a first place ribbon in every category except for compass and pacing. 

The competition was held in Perry, Florida, “the forestry capital of Florida” in November.
