Police search for Grand Theft suspect

Winter Haven, FL – Winter Haven Police are looking for two people possibly involved in the theft of a wallet containing cash, multiple credit cards and other miscellaneous items.

The victim’s credit cards were used in several locations throughout the Winter Haven area.

On Dec. 24, the victim’s wallet was stolen from the downtown area of Winter Haven.

Video surveillance captured the suspect using two of the stolen cards at the 7-Eleven convenience store on 1st St. in Winter Haven.

The suspect is a tall white male in his early-mid 20s with a medium build and short, blonde/light brown hair. He has slight facial hair that appears to be shaved in a thin design. He was wearing a turquoise Aeropostale hoodie with large white writing on the front with black or dark blue jeans.

He is possibly with a short to medium height white female, medium build with long black or brown hair straight hair.

Lakeland, Florida -- Lakeland police arrest a man who claimed to be gator fishing in a local subdivision with vehicle burglary.

According to Lakeland police, Officer Shawn Hohnstreiter responded to a call in the Bridgewater subdivision on Jan. 5 at approximately 7:50 a.m. of a suspicious person carrying a green backpack hopping fences in back yards of the subdivision.

Hohnstreiter arrived in the area and observed a man walking near a lake in the subdivision.

The man, identified as Rodney Leon Boyd, Jr., 19, of 5309 Oakway Drive in Lakeland was soaking wet.

Boyd claimed he was just coming out of the lake and had been gator fishing. Officer Hohnstreiter observed a green backpack in the lake, fished it out, and found it contained various items of property.

LAKELAND, Florida -- Lakeland Police are attempting to identify suspects of a grand theft that occurred at a Marshalls on Nov. 23, 2010, at approximately 3:30 pm.

Three black males entered the store, 3615 S. Florida Ave., placed merchandise in bags, and fled when store security approached them. Security cameras captured the images on the right of one of the suspects.

Crime Stoppers offers reward in Jean death

LAKELAND, Florida -- Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case of the Jimmy Hughes Jean shooting back in Nov. 2010, that later resulted in his death, according to the Lakeland Police Department.

Police continue to investigate this homicide and are asking that anyone with information that can lead to the identity of the shooter to contact the Lakeland Police Detective Russell Hurley at 863-834-8973 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-226-8477.

Woman charged in bicyclist death

Lakeland, Florida -- The woman, who hit a bicyclist with her car and fled the scene hitting two other cars in the process, was released from the hospital and transferred to the Polk County Jail yesterday.

Janice E. Macqueen, of 7648 Chase Road in Lakeland, had been taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries in yesterday's accident where she hit and killed Raymond T. Kohler, of 1425 Ritter Road #33 in Lakeland.

Macqueen was charged with the Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death, and Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage. Further charges are pending the results of toxicology tests.

The investigation is ongoing.

The driver of one of the cars MacQueen hit helped to detain her until deputies arrived.


MacQueen is charged with attempting to leave the scene of a crash with death.


Vehicular homicide charges are pending the results of toxicology tests.




Lakeland, Florida - The scene started when an erratic driver wouldn't stop.


Lt. Bill Nichols with the Polk County Sheriff's Office said, "[The driver] was changing traffic in and out, she was speeding up, slowing down."


On the same stretch of road, southbound on US 98, deputies say 68-year-old Raymond Kohler was riding his bike with the flow of traffic.


Around 3:00 p.m., the driver hit Kohler, killing him instantly.
