Salvage yard busted for buying stolen goods

Mulberry, Florida -- A salvage yard owner and three employees were arrested Monday after Polk Sheriff's detectives say they knowingly bought stolen goods.

Detectives opened an investigation into T&M Salvage after three men -- arrested for over 70 charges including grand theft and dealing in stolen property -- told them they took several of the stolen trailers to the salvage yard and sold them as scrap metal.

Police: Sons try to subdue man after he stabs their mother

Haines City, Florida -- A Haines City man was arrested early Sunday morning after two men told police he stabbed their mother to death.

When Haines City Police officers arrived at the home in the 100 block of Richmar Avenue, they reported seeing Floyd O'Hara Jr. and Joaquin Jackson trying to subdue Tommy Jones after he allegedly stabbed their mother/his wife Juanita Jackson-Jones to death.

Police say both O'Hara, 24, and Jackson, 33, suffered injuries during the struggle and were taken to local hospitals where they were treated and later released from local hospitals.

Five arrested, over 20 pounds of meth seized in Haines City

Haines City, Florida -- Five people were arrested Friday after 23 pounds of methamphetamine were seized from a home in the Haines City area.

The Central Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force (HIDTA) detectives say they received information about two men believed to be distributing meth in the city.

After an investigation, they went to 33-year-old Juan Arteaga-Orozco's home on George M Road, which was believed to be a 'stash house', and served a search warrant.

Polk City, Florida-- The search is on for a flag-stealing suspect in Polk City, a Polk County Sheriff's Office report said Thursday. 

Sometime between July 15th and 16th, an unknown suspect, or suspects, took two flags from the flag pole at Freedom Park, near SR-33 and Berkley Road. 

One flag is a 4' X 6' American flag, and the other is 3' X 5' Black "POW" flag, the report explained.

Woman uses counterfeit bills printed on home computer

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- A Pasco woman was arrested Thursday after police discovered she had been printing counterfeit bills from her home.

Pasco Sheriff's deputies say Kelli McClain's mother-in-law tipped them off to what she was doing after she gave them clippings from a trash pile she got at McClain's home. During a search of the home in the 4200 block of Roundview Court, deputies recovered several counterfeit bills.

Shopper's purse stolen after accidentally leaving it behind

Winter Haven, Florida -- Winter Haven Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who stole a purse from a shopper who accidentally left it in a shopping buggy.

Officers say on July 14, around 3:30 p.m., the woman was in line at the Publix store in the 1300 block of 6th St. NW when another woman accompanied by a younger woman and a young man got behind her with a cart full of groceries.

Child found in motel room filled with drugs

Lake Wales, Florida -- Lake Wales Police officers responding to a call from a concerned citizen arrested a woman who was staying in a drug-filled motel room with her 2-year-old child and boyfriend.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office notified the police department about the call who went to the Royal Inn to investigate. When officers arrived at motel, they talked with 27-year-old Cindy Hill who gave them permission to search the room.
