Boy shot in arm, police search for shooter

Lake Wales, Florida -- A family no longer feels safe inside their grandmother's home in Lake Wales.

"My house is not home anymore. My grandkids don't want to stay there," said grandmother Janet Walker. "I don't even want to be in there."

On Sunday morning at 2:30 Walker stepped out to go to the store.

"Later, my other grandson told me as soon I left they came banging on the door (bang, bang, bang), and then they started shooting through the window," said Walker.

Child escapes during car theft at gas station

Winter Haven, Florida -- Police continue to search for three suspects who stole a woman's car from a Circle K parking lot early Saturday morning.

The victim told Winter Haven Police just before 1 a.m., she left her 2012 silver Chevy Impala, with FL tag #X749VB, running with her 9-year-old daughter in the back seat while she went inside the Circle K store at 1000 1st St., SE.

1 arrest, guns confiscated near high football game

LAKELAND, Florida -- Security was extremely tight before, during and after a high school football game in Polk County as Lakeland High School hosted Kathleen for the district championship.

Lakeland Police reported one arrest inside the football stadium that was packed with 8,000-plus fans. Officers say a number of guns were also found and confiscated in areas immediately surrounding the stadium, several possibly during a traffic stop.

Violent, dangerous 18-year-old criminal sought

Winter Haven, Florida -- Winter Haven Police are asking for the public's help locating 18-year-old violent and dangerous criminal.

Deputies say on Oct. 28 at approximately 3 a.m., Reginald Streeter approached Jamal Munson in the area of 7th St NE and Sears Ave. demanding money. When Munson told him he didn't have any money, Streeter hit Munson in the head with the butt of the gun.

Lakeland kidnapping victim speaks out

Lakeland, Florida -- The Lakeland woman who was kidnapped by her former boyfriend this week is speaking out since her ordeal and has advice for other women out there.

Talk about terrifying. For hours, Elizabeth Hamilton sat in a car next to a man who'd told her at one time that he loved her, and was now threatening to kill her.

In the end, he let her go.

But for several terrifying hours, Hamilton says she wasn't sure that's how things would turn out.

"I guess I let fear get in the way a little bit, but I'm lucky to be alive," she said.

Girls charged with stalking Sedwick plead not guilty

Bartow, Florida -- Two girls charged with felony aggravated stalking in the Rebecca Sedwick bullying case pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

The arraignment hearing that was re-scheduled last week for Tuesday in Bartow has again been reset -- this time until Nov. 21.

Shoplifter roundup recovers over $2,100 in merchandise

Winter Haven, Florida -- In an effort to nab shoplifters in the act, the Winter Haven Police Department recently partnered with local retailers in a five-day Shoplifter Roundup initiative.

As a result, more than $2,100 worth of merchandise was recovered from the retailers.

Authorities say many of those arrested had extensive criminal histories that included retail theft. Some of those caught decided to fight the officers as they were being placed under arrest, apparently giving everyone in the area quite a show.
