Crime

Winter Haven, Florida -- In an effort to nab shoplifters in the act, the Winter Haven Police Department recently partnered with local retailers in a five-day Shoplifter Roundup initiative.

As a result, more than $2,100 worth of merchandise was recovered from the retailers.

Authorities say many of those arrested had extensive criminal histories that included retail theft. Some of those caught decided to fight the officers as they were being placed under arrest, apparently giving everyone in the area quite a show.
