Polk 911 operator charged with shoplifting

Bartow, Florida -- On Sunday, June 16, Bartow Police Department officers arrested an employee of the Polk County Sheriff's Office for shoplifting.

Bartow Police says 21-year-old Harold Young went to the Walmart store in the 1000 block of East Van Fleet Drive and concealed a package of Hanes T-shirts, a package of Hanes brand briefs, and a greeting card and left without paying.

He was arrested and charged with one count retail theft.

The sheriff's office says Young was hired as a telecommunicator working in the Emergency Communications Center in October 2011. He resigned effective immediately after his arrest before he could be fired. He has since been bonded out of jail.
