Winter Haven, Florida -- The Winter Haven Police Department has announced the man wanted in the burglary of his ex-girlfriend's home on June 5, in addition to four other crimes, has been captured.

Police say they got a tip Sunday night Ashir Matai was in the area of Ave. P, NW and 2nd Street NW. When they arrived, Matai fled on foot, jumped a fence and hid behind a home.

After multiple requests to get him stop were unsuccessful, they tasered him three times due to him breaking the probes loose on each attempt.

He was ultimately taken into custody after being tackled by a deputy. He has been booked on outstanding warrants for possession of MDMA (ecstasy), failure to appear on charges of domestic battery, giving a false name to law enforcement, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, and burglary. He was also charged in this incident for resisting arrest without violence.
