The students, who worked with the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Macy’s, wrote letters to Santa or essays beginning with “I Believe.” Each letter was worth $1 to the Foundation through a partnership with Macy’s. Give the gift of Life in Bartow

Give the gift of Life in Bartow

Bartow, Florida -- During the holidays what better gift could there be than to give the give of life.

Organizers hope that's exactly what people will do this Thursday during a blood drive at the Bartow administration building.

The blood drive takes place from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Red Cross has often designated January as National Volunteer Blood Donor Month, and there's a reason.

"Above all other times of the year, it's the month that presents the most challenges in recruiting people to give blood," according to the Red Cross.
