Wing Fling Tour raises money for Humane Society of Polk Co.

Polk County, Florida -- The Wing Fling Tour is back on Sept. 29 with its one-of-a-kind tasting tour charity event benefiting the Humane Society of Polk County.

Participants of the Wing Fling Tour will fly around Polk County in luxury coach buses sampling some of the best chicken wings at nine restaurants around town. One of the stops on the tour this year will include the The Humane Society of Polk County giving people the chance to tour the facility, play games, and sample wings from BubbaChuck's BBQ.

Today, Americans will take time to remember those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11. On that day in 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four passenger jets with the intention of coordinated strikes on New York City and Washington, D.C.

Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks.

Bartow, Florida -- Today, Americans will take time to remember those who lost their lives during the September 11th attacks. Millions more are expected to give back to honor the 9-11 heroes as part of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

This year, students from Mulberry High (MHS) and Bartow High (BHS) will remember those who lost their lives by continuing their mission of servitude to their fellow citizens. The Mulberry Key Club is challenging students from both schools to collect cans of non-perishable food items.

Downtown Lakeland Partnership: "State of Downtown" Annual Luncheon

Lakeland, Florida-- The Downtown Lakeland Partnership wants you to be a part of their Annual Luncheon and Silent Auction scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 3. 

Organizers say their 2012 "State of Downtown" luncheon "promises to an entertaining event," with jack White and Chris Challis of White Challis Redevelopment Co. as the featured keynote speakers. 

The event will take place at the Lakeland Center. Doors open at 11 a.m., with the buffet line beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the program beginning at noon. Things should wrap up around 1:30 p.m.

Local law enforcement accepts "Jaylen's Challenge"

Polk County, Florida-- Just in time for the beginning of the school year, Jaylen Arnold, a Polk county 12-year-old, teams up with local law enforcement to take on bullying.

Jaylen knows first-hand the sting of bullying. Suffering the effects of Tourette Syndrome and Autism, Jaylen has dealt with bullying and decided to turn it into a positive back in 2009. She set out on a mission to educate potential bullies of the hurt they cause others by starting "Jaylens Challenge."
