Lake Wales, FL -- Despite the threat of rainy weather on Aug. 2 for Lake Wales' National Night Out celebration, the police department says the night went off without a hitch.

During the event, Georgetown Apartments had a cookout for all residents, Lake Ashton served sandwiches and sweet tea along with a golf cart parade, and Tower Lakes residents learned how to protect themselves and their property and ejoyed a canine demonstration from Officer Brown and his canine partner Draco.  Tower Lakes then finished off their evening with a walk around their lake.

MLK Crime Watch's walk did get rained out but left their porch light on to let their community know they were looking out for them.

The Lake Wales Police Department thanks all the communities and neighborhood watch groups who participated in the event and for their invitation to the department to have them be a part of it.
