10 News and friends bring All American Blood Drive to Lakeland

Lakeland, Florida -- 10 News -WTSP has teamed up with WQYK 99.5 FM, Florida Blood Services, and Sweetbay Supermarkets to sponsor "Ten News All American Blood Drive" on Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1, 2011, to help build our community's blood supply as we prepare for the long Independence Day Holiday weekend ahead.

Florida Blood Services will have bloodmobiles onsite from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., at the following location in Lakeland on Thursday only:

  • 6220 US Hwy 98 N Lakeland

All lifesaving donors will receive a tropical T-shirt, a voucher for a FREE ticket to their choice of a Tampa Bay Rays game on either August 3 or 24 or September 6 and entry into a drawing to win two pre-game field passes to watch batting practice and enjoy a party in a Ray’s suite at the Rays vs. Boston Red Sox Game on Saturday, Sept. 10! 

In addition, all donors who give blood two times between May 1 and  August 31, 2011 will have four chances to win a Royal Caribbean Cruise for two, courtesy of AAA Auto Club South*.  (*Restrictions apply.  See www.fbsblood.org for details.)

Generally, healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can be blood donors.  Identification is required prior to donation.  For further information, please call 1‑800‑68‑BLOOD (25663).

Florida Blood Services, is a not for profit, community based provider for the blood needs of patients at 44 hospitals in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk Counties, through the generosity of volunteer blood donors.  Over 850 donations are required daily, due to the high quality of medical care in Tampa Bay that serves the most critically ill patients throughout west central Florida.Additional blood supply information is available at www.fbsblood.org.
