Polk County Health Dept. praised for readiness | Community Spirit
Bartow, Fla. -- Residents of Bartow and other parts of Polk County can breathe a bit easier if faced with a major emergency.
The Polk County Health Department has been recognized as "ready" if a public-health emergency strikes.
The National Association of County and City Health Officials recently recognized the department, for the second time, for its ability to respond in a crisis.
"Being designated as 'public health ready' means our staff are well-trained, prepared, and work well with other county organizations that help people in need," said Dr. Daniel Haight on the department's website.
Dr. Haight, who directs the department, added, "We will continue to improve our ability to quickly and effectively respond to any public health crisis in Polk County."
