Lakeland, Fl -  The Whiskey Bent BBQ of Lakeland will be one of the teams featured in a reality TV series done on the World Food Championships

The 2013 World Food Championships took place Nov. 7-10 in Downtown Las Vegas where more than 300 competitors cooked, baked, smoked and grilled for their portion of the $300,000 prize purse and TV fame. 

The World Food Championships was shot for television as six-episode series to air in 2014 on the A&E.

Bartow, FL -- The Wing Fling Tour 2013 is about to take flight, and if you love your wings... this one is for you.

The one-of-a-kind chicken wing sampling tour by luxury coaches will benefit the Humane Society of Polk County - a No Kill Animal Shelter.

Particpants get to tour six different locations around the county plus a stop at the Humane Society.

Event organizers promise you can enjoy great wings, games, prizes, raffles, but you have to reserve your seat in advance.

Lakeland, Florida  --  The Lakeland Professional Firefighters Local 4173 is hosting a Cornhole tournament to benefit the March of Dimes.

Bag Toss for Babies will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 3:00 PM in Peterson Park, at the Back Pavilion- 3700 Cleveland Heights Blvd.

There's a $10 to registration fee per team of adults, and a $5 fee for a team of kids. Kids under 12 are free.

It will be held in the community room of the Lakeland Police Department from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm.

2nd Annual Judd Jog to benefit United Way

Polk County, Florida-- Have you ever run from the law?  What about with the law? If so, you are invited to come out, run or jog with the Polk County Sherriff’s Office in the 2nd Annual Judd Jog Benefiting the United Way.  

Registration will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2013. The race begins at 9:00 am at the complex entrance of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Southwest District Command-Polk State College-Fort Fraser Trail located at 4120 US Highway 98 South, Lakeland, 33812.

Bartow, Florida -- Servapalooza Polk is coming to to town. Servapalooza Polk is uniting the county in a day of service to provide people the opportunity to make a difference in their community.

The festival, hosted by Volunteer Polk, is Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at SUN ’n FUN in Lakeland. Admission is free.

What to Do: Attendees can lend a helping hand in a variety of on-site service projects during the event. The projects provide a great opportunity for students to earn community service hours. Project highlights include:
