Winter Haven, FL -- On Friday, Feb. 3, LEGOLAND Florida announced it will open the gates to its latest addition, LEGOLAND Water Park, on May 26, 2012.

The park will feature a wave pool, Build-A-Raft lazy river, tube slides, body slides and an interactive water-play structure - DUPLO Safari.

Bartow, FL -- The Central Florida Development Council’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host five seminars in February designed to help budding entrepreneurs start a new business, build a business plan, keep records and become certified with the State of Florida.

The seminars will be held at the Neil Combee County Administration Building, Room 139 (first floor), 330 West Church Street in Bartow.

Police: CVS robber hits 2nd store in 2 weeks

Haines City, FL -- Haines City Police are searching for a man who robbed a local CVS store on Monday, Jan. 2.

According to the report, the man entered the store, at 39902 Hwy 27 North in Haines City, approached the register and asked about the price of a video game system. While the clerk checked the price, the man lifted his shirt and flashed a handgun in the waistband. He then demanded all of the money from the register, and a carton of L&M cigarettes. He also fled in a beige-colored car with a "Zone" brand 3-D gaming system.

Local bank helps teachers improve financial literacy

Polk County, FL -- Fifth Third Bank announced it will be holding a Teacher Workday to help improve the financial literacy in Polk County for teachers on Jan. 2.

During the workday, executives from Fifth Third Bank (Tampa Bay) will visit six Polk County schools to discuss financial literacy and provide identity theft protection advice to more than 420 teachers. Other topics that may be discussed include budgeting, saving, credit building and information on the HARP updates.

Davenport, FL -- Detectives are searching for two men who robbed a local liquor store on Christmas Eve.

According to the sheriff's office, around 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 24, one man held the door open of the Hollywood Liquor store, at 114 Polo Park Blvd., while the other, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, went behind the counter and pointed it at the clerk demanding money.

Lake Alfred, FL -- Detectives are investigating a robbery at the Dollar General Store on Friday, Dec. 23.

According to the sheriff's office, around 10 p.m., a man armed with a black semi-automatic handgun entered the store, at 725 South Lake Shore Way, pointed it at store employees and demanded money. After the employees filled a bag with money, the man fled the store heading north.

He is described as a black male, 5'7" to 5'9", 175 lbs., wearing blue pants, a camouflage jacket and a T-shirt covering his face.
