Replacement announced for retiring finance director

Lakeland, Florida -  City Manager Doug Thomas announced that Mike Brossart will replace Greg Finch as the City's Finance Director on January 1, 2013. Finch will be retiring after serving the City for 27 years.

Thomas said, "I have a deep appreciation for the dedication and service Greg Finch has provided during his tenure as Finance Director. I will miss his tremendous financial insight and the entire organization wishes him the best as he enters his well deserved retirement at the end of the year."

Grower Mark Wheeler elected FL Citrus Mutual President for '12-'13

Lakeland, Florida- Florida Citrus Mutual’s Board of Directors announced its elected officers Friday for the 2012-2013 season.

Mark Wheeler, Chief Financial Officer of Wheeler Farms Inc. in Lake Placid, will serve as Mutual’s president during the year.  Wheeler succeeds Victor Story Jr., who will remain on Mutual’s Executive Committee.

Tiger Bay Club changes guest speaker for upcoming meeting

Polk County, Florida-- The Polk County chapter of the Tiger Bay Club  regretfully announced that Gerard Robinson will no longer speak at their monthly meeting, scheduled for Monday, June 18 at 11:30 a.m.

In Robinson's place, County Commissioner Ed Smith and challenger Tracy Garcia will speak in his place. Their race will be decided at the August 14 primary.

For the past three years, the county has brought together businesses and governmental institutions from all areas of central Florida together to discuss business ideas, issues and solutions with the goal of helping small minority and woman owned businesses grow their companies.

Lakeland, Florida -- Lakeland Police are investigating a business burglary that took place at Pace Inc. on May 13 around 4 p.m.

According to Lakeland PD, when officers responded to Pace Inc., 2130 Interstate Drive, they discovered someone had broken in through the front door and took 1,400 pieces of handheld outdoor power equipment.
